for Fixed Telecommunication Service Providers
One of the most important aspects of The Communications Act 2003 is that it places an obligation, via the General Conditions of Entitlement, on all communication services providers to provide Codes of Practice for their residential and very small business clients. This includes all communications providers and resellers from the smallest to the largest of companies.
Since May 2005, providers of fixed telephony services have been required to publish a Code of Practice for Sales & Marketing setting out policies and procedures to prevent mis-selling. The FCS has created a generic code for companies to create their own code. If you are a fixed line service provider wish to know more Email code@fcs.org.uk or Download an explanatory leaflet.

For Communication Service Providers
The Federation of Communication Services provides a generic Consumer Code of Practice, available to every company delivering communication services to consumers and small businesses, to ensure they comply with the General Conditions under The Communications Act 2003.
The Act places a regulatory burden on all communication services providers and resellers from the smallest to the largest of companies. Services covered include publicly available fixed and mobile telephony, Internet, broadband, paging and public access radio. These providers are required to have an approved consumer and complaints code of practice for their individual and very small business customers.
The generic code can be customised for each individual business to enable companies to become compliant. If you are a communications provider and wish to know more please Email code@fcs.org.uk or Download an explanatory leaflet
