FCS encourages the improvement of quality of service from members to customers by promoting the value of recognised quality assurance schemes.
The Radiocommunications Quality Council RQC 'Silver Award Scheme' is an industry-wide scheme that recognises and confirms to customers the high professional standards that communication equipment suppliers and installers aim to provide.
The Scheme, which is especially suited to the smaller business and can provide a stepping stone towards the more rigorous International Standards Organisation ISO9001 scheme, is endorsed by -
- Department of Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform
- Ofcom - the telecoms regulator
- Network operators
- Other leading companies, including manufacturers
The Silver Award Scheme is administered for RQC by the FCS and is currently available to -

MPT 1362 Code of Practice for the installation of mobile equipment in vehicles
How to join the Silver Award Scheme
- Apply for application documents silveraward@fcs.org.uk (indicate category in Subject) - you will receive an email acknowledgement and be sent the documentation by post
- Assimilate relevant Code of Practice - see - Other Downloadables
- On receipt of documentation - Read 'Scheme Details & Explanatory Notes'
- Answer the questions on the Application Form
- Read the Declaration to the Customer Charter
- Sign Application Form
- Return the Application Form and payment to the Federation of Communication Services
- Await your Certificate of Acceptance
