Mobile Installers

The FCS Installers Group is formed of companies and individuals involved in the installation of communications equipment into mobile environments, particularly road vehicles. Group members, who all work to the FCS Ethical Code of Practice, range from large organisations with their own employed and sub-contracted installation engineers to experienced individuals providing installation services direct to customers.

Together group members work on a wide range of topics connected with their sector. These include:

  • Customer satisfaction
  • Legislation
  • Health and Safety
  • Environmental Issues
  • Training
  • Maintaining High Standards
  • Sharing Information & Equipment Knowledge

All mobile equipment installers are expected to comply with the Code of Practice known as FCS1362 - for the 'installation of mobile radio and related ancillary equipment in land based vehicles' which contains best practice guidance to provide a safe installation for vehicle drivers and their passengers.

FITAS is the FCS Installer Training & Accreditation Scheme which is built on the principals of the FCS1362 code of practice and offers both the manufactures of equipment and the consumers of installation services the reassurance that the install undertaken by an accredited members will be carried out in accordance with UK best practice guidlines.

The FCS Installers Group is responsible for the creation and continued management of the FITAS programme.

Further information on either FCS1362 or the FITAS programme can be found here.
