Learn about new General Conditions direct from Ofcom

Ofcom recently ran a seminar in London where members had an opportunity to learn about the changes that will come into effect in October this year when the revised General Conditions come into force. Members that attended found it very useful and plenty of questions were asked. They are now planning a second event to be held in Edinburgh.

As you will be aware, Ofcom reviewed its General Conditions last year with the aim of producing a revised set of up-to-date conditions to ensure they are fit for purpose for today’s market and reflect their current priority areas and keep pace with market developments and changing consumer behaviour. This has resulted in some fairly significant changes to the rules, including the main consumer protection General Conditions, including those relating to:

 

contract requirements

information publication and transparency requirements;

billing requirements;

complaints handling and access to alternative dispute resolution;

measures to meet the needs of vulnerable consumers and end-users with disabilities;

tackling nuisance calls and provision of calling line identification facilities, and

switching and mis-selling.
