Originally drawing on work by five of the UK’s largest billing providers, the FCS Billing Group oversees the development of the common industry standard for Call Data Records (CDRs). It also provides a forum to discuss broader issues related to billing issues and industry best practice.
It is very much FCS’s view that the CDR standard should be an open standard, and it is made available on the FCS website for anyone to download free of charge. But we do ask that you notify us if you are using it in your business: it’s important for everyone that we avoid any risk of errors or complications caused by people using outdated versions. Make sure you let us know you’re a user (or potential user) so we can ensure everybody is consistently using the current version, and everyone knows as soon as any future revisions or upgrades are implemented.
The UK Standard CDR, developed by the FCS Billing Group, was updated to version 3 to accommodate the NGCS changes that came into effect on 1st July 2015, and to offer greater flexibility for hosted telephony and this version reflects those changes.
The UK standard CDR v3 was effective as of 1st July 2015. It will co-exist with the previous UK Standard (v2) for a period of 12 months. As of 30th June 2016, v2 will be withdrawn, thereafter only v3 will be considered as the standard.
All new CPs wishing to generate wholesale CDR/SDR files after 1 July 2015 should only adopt v3 of the standard.
