FCS Announcement

FCS Deputy Chairman Itret Latif was appointed interim chief executive at the beginning of November by the board to manage the handover from Chris Pateman who retired at the end of November 2017.  He will continue to head up and manage the organisation and provide strategic guidance while the Board seeks a replacement CEO in the New Year.

Itret joined the FCS board in 2009 and appointed FCS Deputy Chairman Summer 2016.  As a seasoned Board member, he has developed an appreciation and understanding of the essential nature of Business Radio and the Installers Group on top of his understanding of Fixed and Mobile communication community needs. He appreciates the overall wireless and wired communication convergence and its challenges and threats it brings.

Itret brings more than 18 years of telecoms and energy industry leadership, regulatory and policy development expertise and management experience to his interim CEO role.  He has held several leading non-executive director positions in Telecoms and Energy and has been invited to provide evidence to both House of Commons and House of Lords on telecoms and energy.  In his evidence to the House of Lords in 2012 he was first to identify broadband as essential service and a utility.   At the same hearing, he called for restructuring of BT with BT Openreach being separated to become legal entity owning the infrastructure and engineers.  He has an energy utility background where he was responsible for the development and integration of successful multi million pound retail gas business and the retail telecoms business for Southern Electric and subsequently SSE.
