Q1. What is the FITAS Scheme?

A1. FITAS is the accreditation which ensures your vehicle installations will be carried out to FCS1362.

FCS1362 is the UK Code of Practice for the installation of mobile radio and related ancillary equipment in land-based vehicles. It formed the core of and subsequently replaced the NAPFM Installation Guide for blue-light fleets.

FCS1362 is also referenced in public sector procurement documents (E.g. RM6382 & 6244).

FCS1362 is recognised by Industry as the ‘de facto’ standard for vehicle installation in the UK and is widely used elsewhere in the world.

Q2. Why should installers be FITAS accredited?

A2. By having members accredited on the FITAS Scheme, installation companies can promote that they meet a ‘minimum standard’ throughout their installs. FCS1362 is recognised by industry as the standard for vehicle installation in the UK and is widely used elsewhere in the world. Find out more here: https://www.fcs.org.uk/fitas/

Q3. I have lost my FITAS accreditation card; how can I get a new one?
