FCS Responds to Ofcom’s Consultation on Open Communications

Posted on 12/11/2020

FCS has submitted a response to Ofcom’s consultation on Open Communications. This sets out Ofcom’s initial thinking on plans to oblige CPs to share customer data, on request, with third party organisations of the customer’s choice.

FCS is sceptical that the initiative will achieve its stated objectives. The communications sector already delivers choice, value and quality of service to its customers and works proactively to provide tailored solutions. FCS is also concerned that the proposed obligations will be onerous for CPs to comply with.
