We have been informed that a criminal hacking organisation calling themselves REvil appear to be carrying out sophisticated planned and organised distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks against VoIP companies in the UK. Early reports indicate that at least a couple of companies have been impacted with sophisticated and specific attacks initially targeting SIP services.
Early information indicates these are potentially ransom attacks, with the criminals demanding 1 Bitcoin to cease (which should not be paid) and then the ransom demand goes up to for 10 Bitcoin within 24 hours
