FCS has responded to the latest Ofcom consultation on the withdrawal of Openreach’s copper products. The consultation, which is part of Ofcom’s Wholesale Fixed Telecoms Market Review, proposes allowing Openreach to withdraw copper products in exchange areas where fibre is 90% available. This would mean withdrawal in selected areas earlier than 2026, as originally scheduled. FCS has opposed the proposal on the basis that this will result in earlier forced migrations.
